 During
the early part of 2009, Johnny Mans took
over the ownership, publishing and
editing of the entertainment trade
magazine Encore, a respected periodical
that had been published for the past 18
years.
With Johnny’s expertise in journalism,
design and the showbusiness industry, it
was a natural progression and addition
to his already thriving business.
We are pleased to say that subscriptions
have now increased since the takeover
and with the new glossy magazine now in
full colour, the advertising and
editorial have been well received by all
the readers. It is distributed to
theatre managers, producers, promoters,
suppliers, designers, transportation
companies, artistes/celebrities, hotels,
holiday centres, dance schools, cruise
companies, and all and sundry within the
industry.
Encore also has it’s Annual Awards
Presentation every year, held at
Fairfield Halls in Croydon, and there
are trophies for Manager of the Year,
Producer of the Year, Gaffer (Tech.
Manager) of the Year, Showguide of the
Year, Outstanding Services to Variety
(The Roy Castle Trophy), Children’s show
Producer of the Year and the Lifetime
Achievement Award.
Sponsors for the Awards include Marshall
Amplification, Directa, Talent Live
Entertainment & Events Ltd., Walls Ice
Cream, Johnny Mans Productions and
M.M.Dancecraft. As well as a drinks
reception and a three course luncheon
with wine at the Awards Event, there is
also a star studded cabaret presented by
Keith Simmons and the Water Rats, and
profits made on the day are donated to
The Roy Castle Fund for Cancer Research
UK and the Grand Order of Water Rats,
two excellent charitable causes.
Encore Magazine’s contributors,
