Johnny Mans has been an established theatrical
producer/promoter and showbusiness
agent/manager
since the early 1980's.
His career first started as a comedy entertainer and
stand-up comedian presenting his act in holiday
camps, clubs, cabaret, theatres, television, radio
and cruise liners. This background gave him the
knowledge of theatrical production and with his
natural flair for business and marketing, enabled
him to join legendary agent Billy Marsh as Managing
Director of Billy's Promotions company, which Johnny
eventually took over when Billy died and the
organisation was then name-changed through Companies
House to the current Johnny Mans Productions.
"Billy was a Mentor to me," says Johnny "had been a
personal friend for many, many years and had
frequently asked me to join him in business."
At the time of the company name change, Johnny then
decided to move the business to the market town of Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire so he could be nearer his
family. Johnny is married to Becky who works in
Property and they have two grown up offspring, son
Elliot and daughter Lucy. "I'm very proud of my
two." Says Johnny. "Elliot is a Bachelor Of Science
with First Class Honours and works in Aviation, and
Lucy is a Bachelor Of Arts with Honours and has been
working in Television."
Now one of the leaders in producing and presenting
concert tours, Johnny also represents many artistes
from the world of Light Entertainment, Drama and
Television. He comments "We hire thousands of
personnel throughout the year including comedians,
singers, musicians, choreographers, company
managers, coach drivers, truck drivers, sound and
lighting engineers, publicists, piano tuners,
designers, printers, the list is endless. There are
theatres to book, equipment to hire, hotels to
secure, transportation to organise, costumes to
make, publicity to design and almost everything that
is needed to ensure we are at the top level of this
high profile business."
Johnny Mans Productions also have a literary arm,
being agents for clients who have had biographies
published through leading companies. Norman Wisdom's
"Don't Laugh At Me" and "My Turn", both written with
William Hall, and Norman's "Cos I'm A Fool" and Max
Bygraves' "In His Own Words" written with Bernard
Bale are some of the books negotiated through this
office. "We also went into publishing ourselves for
a little while" says Johnny " which resulted in two
books entitled '25 Years Of Olympia Showjumping' and
a reference soccer book by ex-Liverpool star Ian St.
John on how to teach your offspring the rules of
football.
If it's entertainment you're after, be it theatre,
corporate, television or just something for your
friend's wedding or party 'knees up', then contact
the office at your earliest convenience and we will
endeavour to tailor your requirement to suit your
needs and your budget.
